The company has also forayed into making composite shells for rowing and speed boats along with manufacturing high quality dragon boats, catamarans and umpire boats alongside accessories like wooden & carbon paddles, life jackets, knee pads, harness, helmet, covers just to name a few.
Cargo Enterprises was founded by Mr. Priyank Thakur in 2012, a former paddler and a National Canoeing Champion himself. Seeing the emerging interest in this sport and thereof the lack of good quality equipment being made in the country, he was driven by the passion for the sport and the vision to provide high quality equipment at affordable price points which could be easily available in our country.
The company has come a long way since inception and its success can be measured by the number of medals won by its boats in various championships and can also be gauged by the number of Associations across India it is now supplying their water sports products to.
Canoeing and Kayaking is a very young sport in India and was started only in 1986 under the SAI Special Area Games (SAG). Two Water Sport Centres was established in Alleppey & Port Blair.
This sport is gaining popularity not only as a competitive sport but also as a fitness regimen. The youth of India are now being drawn towards this sport. Seeing the increased attraction toward this sport a number of facilities are now opening across various cities in India.
In the International Sporting World Kayaking and Canoeing is a part of the Olympic Games as a discipline where as many as 16 medals are at stake.
The Government of India has recognised this opportunity and has promoted this sport heavily in the recently concluded Khelo India with the International Canoe Federation and the Indian Kayaking & Canoeing Federation/ Association. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has a special centre dedicated to this game/sport.
India has ample opportunities for this sport as she has enough water resources across the country in various states. Along with this the sport has found impetus among the various state associations, paramilitary, forces, sports academies and services.
The all India University and private clubs are also leaving no stone unturned in promoting and popularising this sport.
